01 · Guided or Pro
Choose Guided or Pro after updating, then switch whenever you like. Both use the same camera control, preflight, recovery, Photos, and Sessions foundation.
Pick a goal, answer no more than three useful questions, and review the whole plan before the camera changes. You can even complete the first-photo flow in Practice without a camera.
Remote, Video, Photos, and Sessions keep the direct workflow experienced photographers expect, with exposure control, LUT preview, focus tools, capture recipes, and professional scopes.
02 · Guided Shoot
The numbers are there when you want them. Until then, Jiao explains the decision in photographic terms and asks before changing the camera.
Start with the result you want, not a page of camera terms.
Subject, tripod, timing, or destination—never more than three questions.
See the expected result, duration, frame count, card space, support, and save location.
Every proposed setting is explained and verified. If one write fails, earlier changes roll back.
Preflight points to the one action needed for connection, mode, battery, storage, or permission.
The recap shows what was created, where it went, and whether a frame or operation was interrupted.
03 · The field station
Open the Pro finder from a Guided session without stopping it. The high-visibility RUN panel keeps progress, battery, connection, triggers, and remaining frames in view.
Choose histogram, waveform, RGB parade, or vectorscope. They follow the latest Live View frame and are clearly presented as signal monitoring, not RAW measurement.
Interval, sunset ramp, traps, timed Bulb, AEB, and focus stack share one preflight, checkpoint, cancellation, and restoration system.
Frames, triggers, missed moments, reconnects, imports, and the finish reason stay in a local timeline, with manual text or JSON export.
04 · Recovery built in
Jiao tries to reconnect for up to 90 seconds. Interval shoots skip missed moments instead of making duplicates; traps settle before re-arming; Bulb, AEB, and focus stack restore a safe camera state instead of replaying an interrupted sequence.

05 · IPAD
Goals use a true three-column layout. Plans and recaps pair related panels. In landscape, Live View and Guided controls sit side by side so the image remains the center of the workspace.
06 · Compatibility without guesswork
Each connection builds a capability profile from the body and firmware. Unsupported or trace-gated operations stay off, and other Nikon Z bodies enter a clearly labeled Beta experience instead of pretending to be qualified.
07 · FAQ
No. It captures an evenly spaced sequence of still photographs and says so in both the plan and recap. Video assembly is not part of version 1.2.
On iOS 26, an eligible time-limited shoot can continue for 15, 30, 60, or 180 minutes. On iOS 17–25, Jiao safely finishes the current operation, restores temporary settings, records the interruption, and notifies you.
Yes. Practice without a camera takes you through the complete first-photo journey, including the plan, preflight, capture, and recap.
Only until you need them. More Controls opens the complete finder without ending the active session, and Pro remains available in Settings.
Camera files stay on the card unless you request an iPhone import. Session records remain on the device; sanitized text or JSON leaves only when you export it.
Nothing. There is no account, cloud sync, analytics SDK, tracking, advertising, or automatic report upload. The privacy policy explains every permission and local record.
