Privacy & Legal
Two documents on one page: how the app treats your data — it never touches it — and the legal terms that govern the app and this website.
Part 01 · Privacy
Privacy Policy
Effective date: 10 July 2026 · Version 2.0
Summary. Jiao Connector is engineered so that no personal information ever leaves your device or reaches us. The app has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of its own. All communication takes place directly between your device and your camera over the camera's own local Wi-Fi network. This Policy explains, in the detail the law expects, what the app touches and why.
01Introduction and scope
This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") describes how information is handled in connection with the Jiao Connector iOS application (the "App") and the website at jiao.verismo.work (the "Site", and together with the App, the "Services"). It applies to all versions of the App distributed through the Apple App Store and TestFlight. Please read this Policy carefully; if you do not agree with it, do not use the Services.
02Data controller
The Services are developed and operated by Li Zheng, an independent developer ("we", "us", "our"). For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, and comparable data-protection laws, the data controller is Li Zheng, reachable at mrbananaeros@gmail.com. We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer, as our processing activities do not meet the thresholds requiring one.
03Information we do not collect
- No accounts or registration — the App can be used in full without providing any identifying information.
- No analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting SDKs are embedded in the App.
- No advertising, advertising identifiers, or third-party trackers.
- No transmission of your photographs, videos, camera address, Wi-Fi credentials, location, or settings to us or to any third party.
- No backend infrastructure — the App is engineered without any developer-operated servers, so no destination exists to which personal data could be uploaded.
- Declared to Apple — the App's privacy manifest declares no collected data types and no tracking, and we operate the App consistently with those declarations.
04Information processed locally on your device
To perform its function as a camera remote, the App processes the following categories of information solely on your device. This processing is initiated by you, serves no purpose other than the operation of the feature concerned, and does not involve transmission to us or to anyone else.
- Camera communication data — commands, live-view frames, and file listings exchanged with your Nikon camera using the PTP/IP protocol over the camera's own local Wi-Fi network.
- Camera credentials — the camera's Wi-Fi network name and password (if you enter them) and any manual IP address, stored in the App's local preferences and used solely to join the camera's network (via Apple's Hotspot Configuration API) and to reconnect to it.
- Photographs and videos — files you choose to download are transferred directly from the camera to your device and, at your instruction, saved to your Apple Photos library under add-only access. The App cannot read or browse your existing library.
- Location data — only if you enable geotagging, the App uses "while in use" location access to embed coordinates in the EXIF metadata of photos downloaded from the camera. Location is never stored separately and is never transmitted off your device by the App.
- Preferences — appearance, accent theme, language, and a randomly generated stable client identifier required by the PTP/IP protocol, retained in the App's local storage.
05Device permissions
The App requests only the permissions strictly necessary for its features: Local Network, Photos (add-only), and — if you enable geotagging — Location (while in use). You may grant or revoke each permission at any time in the iOS Settings app. Revocation disables only the dependent feature and has no other consequence.
06Disclosure to third parties
We do not sell, rent, license, trade, or otherwise disclose personal information to any third party — we hold none. The App is distributed by Apple Inc. through the App Store; Apple's independent processing (for example, purchase records and operating-system diagnostics) is governed by Apple's own privacy policy, over which we have no control.
07This website
The Site is a static informational site. It sets no cookies and includes no analytics or third-party trackers. Your language and theme selections may be stored in your browser's localStorage on your own device and are never transmitted to us. The Site is delivered through Cloudflare, Inc., whose edge network transiently processes technical connection data (such as IP addresses) as strictly necessary to serve content and to defend against abuse, acting under its own privacy policy.
08Data retention and deletion
- Local preferences and camera credentials persist on your device until you change them or delete the App; deleting the App removes them.
- Temporary downloads are held in memory or the App's sandbox only while you browse and are cleared when you disconnect from the camera.
- Saved photographs reside in your Apple Photos library under your exclusive control.
- On our side — because we collect nothing, we retain nothing; no data exists for us to delete.
09Security
All App data resides within the iOS application sandbox on your device and is protected by the security architecture of iOS, including device encryption where enabled. Communication with your camera occurs over the camera's own local Wi-Fi network and does not traverse any infrastructure of ours. No security measure is absolute, but the most effective safeguard in the App's design is structural: your data never leaves your device.
10Children's privacy
The Services are camera-control utilities not directed to children, and they collect no personal information from any user, including children under 13 years of age (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has nonetheless provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will address the matter promptly.
11Your privacy rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection (GDPR / UK GDPR); rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale or sharing (California CCPA/CPRA); or comparable rights under other laws, including China's Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) and Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI). Because the Services collect and retain no personal information, there is ordinarily no data on which we could act; nevertheless, you may exercise any applicable right, or lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority, and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. Requests may be directed to mrbananaeros@gmail.com.
12International data transfers
We do not transfer personal data across borders, because we do not collect it. Content for the Site may be served from the Cloudflare edge location nearest to you.
13Changes to this Policy
We may revise this Policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted at this address with its effective date shown above, and material changes will be reflected by a new effective date. Continued use of the Services after a revision takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy. Because the Services collect no personal information, we do not anticipate material changes.
14Contact
Questions, requests, or complaints regarding this Policy or privacy generally may be directed to: Li Zheng, mrbananaeros@gmail.com. We endeavour to respond within 30 days.
Part 02 · Legal
Legal Notice & Disclaimer
Effective date: 10 July 2026 · Version 1.0
Summary. Jiao Connector is independent third-party software created by an individual developer. It is not a Nikon product and has no relationship whatsoever with Nikon Corporation. It is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, and your use of it is at your own risk. The full legal terms follow.
01Independent third-party software
Jiao Connector 蕉连 (the "App") is developed, published, and maintained solely by Li Zheng, an independent developer ("we", "us", "our"). The App is not an official Nikon product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, certified by, licensed by, or otherwise approved by Nikon Corporation or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates ("Nikon"). Nikon has not reviewed, tested, or warranted the App and bears no responsibility or liability for it. Any question, complaint, or claim arising from the App must be directed to us — not to Nikon or to your camera's vendor.
02Trademark notice
"Nikon", "Z fc", and "Z f" are trademarks or registered trademarks of Nikon Corporation. "Leica", "Hasselblad", "Sony", "Canon", "Pentax", and "Ricoh" are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners. These marks are used in the App and on this website solely in a nominative and descriptive manner — to identify the cameras with which the App interoperates and to describe optional colour themes inspired by classic camera design. Such use does not imply, and must not be understood as implying, any association with, or endorsement or sponsorship by, the trademark owners. All trademarks remain the exclusive property of their respective owners, and no trademark licence is granted by the App or this website.
03Interoperability and compatibility
The App communicates with cameras using the Picture Transfer Protocol over TCP/IP networks ("PTP/IP"), an open, standardised protocol (ISO 15740). The App does not contain, and was not developed using, any proprietary Nikon software development kit or confidential Nikon material. Statements of compatibility — for example, "works with the Nikon Z fc" — are factual statements of observed interoperability, not claims of certification or approval. Camera firmware updates or product changes may degrade or remove interoperability at any time, and we give no undertaking that any level of compatibility will be maintained.
04No warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App and this website are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", with all faults and without warranty of any kind. We expressly disclaim all warranties and conditions, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including without limitation any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, quiet enjoyment, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will operate uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will function with any particular camera body, firmware version, network environment, or accessory. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of the foregoing may not apply to you; in those jurisdictions, warranties are excluded to the greatest extent the law permits.
05Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of photographs, video, data, profits, goodwill, or use, arising out of or in connection with the App or this website, whether based on contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other legal theory, and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. This includes, without limitation, claims relating to missed or failed captures, interrupted recordings, corrupted or incomplete transfers, altered camera settings, or battery or storage exhaustion. Where liability cannot be wholly excluded, our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim or, where the App was obtained free of charge, the minimum amount recognised by applicable law. Nothing in this notice excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including, where so provided, liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence.
06Your responsibilities
- Operate your equipment properly — use your camera in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and supervise it during remote operation.
- Safeguard your images — verify that important photographs and videos have been transferred and saved before deleting anything from the camera's card.
- Maintain power and storage — ensure adequate battery and card capacity; remote sessions consume both.
- Comply with law — you are solely responsible for compliance with the laws applicable to your photography, including privacy, publicity, and location-recording laws.
07Intellectual property
The App, its design, and the contents of this website — excluding third-party trademarks and your own photographs — are © 2026 Li Zheng, all rights reserved. Photographs and videos captured with your camera are and remain yours; the App claims no rights whatsoever in them. Sample photographs displayed in the App's demo mode and on this website are used under the Unsplash License.
08Severability and relationship to other terms
If any provision of this notice is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. This notice supplements — and does not replace — the Privacy Policy above and any terms imposed by the store from which you obtained the App, including Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which governs your licence to use the App.
09Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. The current version, with its effective date shown above, will always be posted at this address.
